The Youngblood’s Girls had a fantastic double game weekend to close out the regular season with to resounding wins 96-60 and 108-51 against County Upper and Southend Swifts respectively.
With a playoff berth already established, The club knew that two wins out two games would put the girls in the top spot in the East division and a higher seed in the playoffs. The team is a young team, but what we lack in years we make up for with the will to be the best that we can be. Showing that These Girls Can!
‘We all experience times of adversity in our lifetime’ said Head Coach Caroline Charles. And the Youngblood’s Basketball players sampled some of that adversity with nowhere to train for the 2017-18 pre-season and with no preseason, nowhere for new players to come. We started off with 8 teams, but had to start the season with 5 as we had nowhere to train. Thankfully in September, St Bonaventure’s gave us the use of their sports hall. We had 2 weeks to get our players and teams ready. The Under 14 Girls and the Under 14 Premier Boys have managed to finish as the top teams for their age groups in the country and have advanced to the playoffs. As the saying goes, what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger.
Playoff action is scheduled to begin in April. Continue to check our website and social media for details in the near future.
