U18 Amazons Rumble Thunder

Youngblood’s girls took Lewisham on this weekend. Lewisham had a few new additions to their team. But Youngblood’s were not intimidated

Youngblood’s opened the scoring with swift passing leading to a basket and fouls from newly returned Nikita Lopez sadly after a foul Nikita received an injury to her knee and had to remain out of the rest of the game. The home side spurred on by their coach to get back into the game after Nikita’s injury seemed to make the rest of the team rally on.

The second period saw the ladies scoring the first 7 baskets. Lewisham  would fight back to level things mid-way through the second but Amazons  kept getting easy baskets to end the half 10 points ahead

The momentum in the third quarter seemed to be staying with Youngbloods as everything they shot kept dropping scoring 9 unanswered points.

A change of strategy saw Coach Caroline Charles decide to get the whole team on the score sheet. Youngblood’s stepped up their defence with great steals by Sade, Lizzy and Maria initiating fast breaks. Allowing every player in the Amazon team to score for the Youngblood’s team. The Youngblood’s Amazons running the game out 62 – 46
