U14 Girls Fly Past Haringey Angels

London Youngbloods Lion Cubs Under 14 Girls had a hectic weekend playing Invictus in Southampton on Saturday and then against the Haringey Angelas on Sunday. Haringey currently sitting in 3rd position in the league and the Lion Cubs in 8th. Haringey seemed confident at the tip on Sunday on their home court at St Angela’s school. Youngblood’s Cubs had recruited more players and had 12 players on their bench.

Youngblood’s opened the scoring with a swift drive to the basket from Tinu Fakunle. Jada Sealy & Leia Edwards quickly joined Tinu on the scoresheet taking an early lead in the first quarter 16-8

The second period saw the Angels come out fighting, but T Fakune, Fatima Jenneh and L Edwards put together a run of points that gave the East London team a 34-18 lead at the end of the second quarter.

The momentum in the third quarter went totally against Youngbloods. Haringey poured on the pressure. Haringey scoring 20 points to Youngblood’s 6 points.

The start of the fourth saw the lead change hands 3 times before the Lion Cubs would take back control with the intervention of Anais Campbell with a quick 4 points. Once the Youngblood’s had the lead back they refused to let it go, Haringey tried their hardest to come back at Youngblood’s but it was not to be.
