Youngblood travel to Essex to face their toughest challenge yet in Brentwood Fire 1, they started their season with an impressive win over their second team and were looking for a repeat with Youngbloods who also started the season well.
Odds were against the visitors as the line ups favoured Brentwood who won the battle of height and size. Not to be out done Youngbloods turned up in style winning the Tip and gearing in to the lead with points from Alex and Latrell taking it to the home side. They continued their dominance throughout the first quarter securing it by 5points (15-10). 2nd Quarter saw the home side crawl back in to the game with their big man dominating the boards and netting in some points to nick the quarter by 1 point (16 -15), the first quarter Youngbloods has lost this season.
3rd Quarter started better for the visitors with though defence coming from Nathan, Mo and Ali followed by multiple fast breaks scored by Franklin and Latrell. The home side did not back down as their big man continued to cause the visitors problems scoring 8 straight baskets to reduce the deficit. Outstanding plays from Alex backed by aggressive And1 baskets by Latrell ensured Youngbloods stayed on top. The final quarter proved difficult for Youngbloods as changes and substitutions lead to Brentwood crawling back to within 2 points. Youngbloods were tested for the first time and questions were asked of the team, after a time-out was called by a nervy Coach Stephen. The response was positive as start player Alex hitting a 3 pointer followed by Daniel and Latrell scoring back to back layups. The result was a (15-9) quarter win securing victory by 11 points.
