U14 Premier Boys Power Way to Victory

Yet another exciting week for the Youngbloods Lions winning their second game of the season against London Westside Rangers the team that won the Final 4 last season. Much to be excited about with the Youngbloods Lions adding 4 more boys to their roster.

Youngbloods won the tip to start the game and straight away took the lead with baskets from Joshua Morgan who finished with a staggering 30 points to lead all scores. Westside would answer back as their go-to guy C. Verwon showed his dominance in the post causing all sorts of problems for the Youngbloods. However, Youngbloods went on an 11-0 run with new boy Ashley Russell getting on the score sheet and Morgan netting one of his 4 three-pointers to close the quarter 7 – 17.

The second quarter belonged to Christian Adun as he was hustling and bustling his was to the basket backed by Neo Clunis and finished by Boatey’s well-worked lay-up. Verwon from Westside kept it close scoring 9 of his 18 points to make the score 17-28 to end the half.

The third started with excellent defensive effort by Boatey getting into passing lanes with game-high 12 steals, 13 rebounds and 11points. He wasn’t done as he also showed his range knocking down a deep 3. Westside’s answer was swift with a 5-0 run as Verwon went to work again. Youngbloods showed their resilience with a 15-0 run of their own to end the quarter 22-46. 4th quarter sees every player get on the score sheet with excellent shooting from Edas Rukas and Cameron Thompson but the highlight was when Neave Gregoire-Clarke nailed a deep 3 mid way through the 4th with the excitement of the crowd. Solid performance form new boy Omeke Jennings aka (Biggs), helped seal the win for Youngbloods 34-80.

Next week is an away visit to local rivals London Thunder – Lewisham.
