Recap

On the 10th of January, the Under 18 Womens Basketball team celebrated a great victory winning 84-36 against Surrey Stealers.  The first quarter saw Roshni Lawrence open the scoring with a 3 pointer. This was closely followed by a basket from Stealers, Surrey fought back and levelled the score 12-12 half way through the 1st quarter, but  a change of defence allowed Youngblood’s to capitalise on Surrey’s mistakes for the Youngblood’s girls to score 12 points unanswered. End of 1st quarter 22-12.

At the start of the second quarter Youngblood’s continued to apply the pressure by changing their offence and defence numerous times to baffle the Stealers. Youngblood’s ran out the second quarter with 22 points and the Stealers could only reply with 6 points. Mya McKenzie scored 7 within quick succession of each other, with baskets also from Jemima Ababio, Brenda Kipewu, Rianna Laing

In the third quarter Maria Delgado found her form and started shooting from around the arc adding to her teams scoring booty,  In the final quarter, good  Stealers started to put on good defensive blocks, but with Youngblood’s eager to close the game out with their first win of 2015 the girls piled on the pressure, if they didn’t score the first time they refused to leave the basket until they had scored. An Excellent game to watch for the Youngblood’s fan’s as the players showed excellent game play and skills. Coach Charles remarked that the way the girls played today left me positively beaming!
