Under 16 Boys returned to action this week as they played two games. A rare midweek
fixture saw them pitting themselves against neighbouring borough team Barking and
Dagenham Thunder, as they looked to improve on their team performances ahead of
the final stage of the season.

Youngblood’s started the game at fast pace, getting onto the score sheet from the
first possession as **David Olupitan** scoring a 3pt shot from his first shot, quickly
followed by scores from **Laja Ogidan** and **Termon Serrant** as they built up
a solid 11-0 lead forcing Barking and Dagenham to take a timeout. **Devante Abana-
Odita** added to the onslaught as Barking Dagenham failed to convert any chances.**
Richmond Ariyo** joined in on the action and netted the next 8 points as we approached
midway through the first period with the scores 29-0 at this stage. **James Walsh-
Roche** quickly made himself at home following his transfer from local rivals NASSA
as he scored in transition. **Titas Zydelis** and **Gabriel Sanni** came into to
play also converting their chances as they closed out the first quarter with a 45-
5 score line.

Youngblood’s began to run through the motions over the next three-quarters putting
into practice and attempting new things in order to prepare themselves for the weekend
ahead. **Shequell Roberts** joined into proceedings following his great defensive
effort and was reward with points in transition as he stole the ball and closed
out the second quarter with Youngblood’s in the lead 63-9.

The home side carried on with proceedings in the third quarter as they continued
to work on their offensive and defensive games, as they played man to man throughout
as **Idriss Bah** dominated the boards and scored as he posted up as well as **Jonathan
Odur** scoring in transition ensured that all the Newham Youngblood’s players had
scored in the game, with the third quarter ending in the favour of Newham Youngblood’s
94-15.

Early on in the Fourth Quarter, Youngblood’s passed the century mark and continued
to run through their offences successfully. Great defensive stops from Abana-Odita
and Ogidan gave Youngblood’s further impetuous for attack as the Home-side closed
out the game when Shequell Roberts nailed a three point shot from beyond the arc
as they came out victorious with a blistering scoreline of 126-25.

“Today was a good all-around team performance which they probably felt was needed
as we didn’t play well against Reading Rockets last week.” Said Head Coach Aaron
Senior

On Saturday, Youngbloods stormed to victory against Solent Kestrels winning 106-
57 after a 38-9 opening quarter effort.
