**Evelyn Adebayo** has had a busy Summer since completing her Under 18s season with
us at Youngbloods, completing school whilst preparing for a move to the United States
of America and playing for our 20s National Team, add in a few media commitments
too…

Adebayo started playing basketball in Year 7 at **St Angela’s Ursuline School**
urged by coach and teacher, **Caroline Charles**, she was a member of the schools
borough winning team throughout her time at the schools whilst also securing the
Under 14s and Under 16s National Schools championship titles a tradition she carried
on when joining Barking Abbey Basketball Academy as they won both years during her
tenure which culminated in an MVP winning performance in May 2015 as Barking Abbey
School  beat Charnwood College 61-53.

Evelyn demonstrated great potential from the outset and was scouted to play for
the England National Teams via the Regional Performance Centres. She went on to
represent the **England National Team at Under 16 & Under 18 levels**.

Over the past season she has played a big role in our **Youngbloods Under 18 Womens**
success as they became our first female team to reach the National Final Fours,
as they finished 3rd in the country beating London rivals Peckham Pride in the 3rd
placed playoff.

She also played a big role for Barking Abbey Crusaders in the Inaugural WBBL season
averaging 8.3 points per game and she finished the season strong for her Senior
side averaging **12.8 pts per game** and **7.8 rebounds per game** over the last
4 games of the season helping the Crusaders to Playoff Semi-Final where they lost
to the eventual Champions Sheffield Hatters.

After the club season finished, Evelyn had turned her attention to her studies,
a very bright girl who is very good academically often achieving A’s & A*s studying
A-Levels whilst also preparing for her move Stateside as she committed to Division
1 School **Gardner Webb University**, North Carolina in the United States who participate
in Big South Conference. After her Exams she was then shortlisted by National Team
Head Coach **Karen Burton** for the **Great Britain U20s Womens team**, a call up
which she duly accepted as she worked hard to prove herself in order to be selected
for the upcoming European Championships. Adebayo made the final team along with
11 others, as they travelled to **Podgorica, Montenegro**.

Adebayo competed well and never gave up even during tough times for the Great Britain
side as she **led the team in points per game and rebounds**, 8.8 and 7.8 respectively.
Ranking #7 out of all the players in the tournament in rebounds whilst achieving
two Double-Doubles (17 points & 16 Rebounds vs Greece; 14 points and 13 rebounds
vs Romania) as Great Britain finished 9th in the tournament.

_“Evelyn has worked really hard this year to achieve all she has done, she is a
credit to herself and her family and it has been an absolute pleasure to coach her,
she is proof that Academics and Sports can work very well with each other and compliment
one another in order to increase life chances. She has represented our Nation on
multiple occasions whilst maintain her high achievement in school. We wish her well
as she embarks on another journey and experience at Gardner Webb University”_ said**
Coach Caroline Charles**

Somehow in her busy schedule she also found time to try her hand at being in the
media spotlight, as she was a guest on Sports Tonight in January 2015 and again
in March.
