Youngblood’s u18 girls had a point to prove against The National Champions Sevenoaks.
The Youngblood’s team had never beaten this strong shooting team in any age group
at any time. The Youngblood’s team set their game to We will win this, our way!!

The Youngblood’s team put on intense defensives pressure being lead in the defence
by Brenda Kipewu in the first quarter and would not allow Sevenoaks to dictate the
pace of the game with **Naomi McKenzie** scoring the first points of the game. **
Evelyn Adebayo** was shooting from the paint and the points were dropping. The Sevenoaks
coach could not find an reply from his team and Youngblood’s coming out the leaders
with 18 points against the away teams 13.

The 2^(nd) and 3^(rd) Quarters saw Youngblood’s maintain the intense defensive work.
Sevenoaks had glimmers of play that looked like a come-back but coach Caroline rallied
her group of girls and told  to not give an inch in defense **Maria Delgado, Chyna
Sawyers** joined **Evelyn Adebayo** with the outside shooting and some timely three
pointers just added to Sevenoaks misery.

Sevenoaks were completely stumped. As Youngblood’s pulled away and showed what the
outcome of the game was going to be in the 4^(th) u16 player **Roshni Lawrence**
added to the Youngbloods tally netting 7 points from deep inside the arc. Sevenoaks
lost their first game ever to Youngblood’s on the final whistle 65-52. **Coach Caroline**
commented that the win is a bitter sweet experience, because now that we have beaten
the National Champions everyone will be painting a target on Youngblood’s back,
so the girls will have to knuckle down and  produce this kind of performance throughout
the rest of the season.
