Fire (away) and Greenwhich Titans (Home) Respectively. Whilst both the U15 Boys
and U18 Women traveled to sunny Southend to play the Southend Swifts.

Our weekend culminated in two Home Games at St Angelas for the U16 Boys and U18
Men against Worthing Thunder.

### Under 13 Boys

### Brentwood Fire  52 Vs  63 Youngbloods Nitro

Youngblood travel to Essex to face their toughest challenge yet in Brentwood Fire
1, they started their season with an impressive win over their second team and were
looking for a repeat with Youngbloods who also started the season well.

Odds were against the visitors as the line ups favoured Brentwood who won the battle
of height and size. Not to be out done Youngbloods turned up in style winning the
Tip and gearing in to the lead with points from **Alex **and** Latrell **taking
it to the home side. They continued their dominance throughout the first quarter
securing it by 5points (15-10). 2^(nd) Quarter saw the home side crawl back in to
the game with their big man dominating the boards and netting in some points to
nick the quarter by 1 point (16 -15), the first quarter Youngbloods has lost this
season.

3^(rd) Quarter started better for the visitors with though defence coming from **
Nathan, Mo **and **Ali **followed by multiple fast breaks scored by **Franklin **
and **Latrell. **The home side did not back down as their big man continued to cause
the visitors problems scoring 8 straight baskets to reduce the deficit. Outstanding
plays from **Alex **backed by aggressive And1 baskets by Latrell ensured Youngbloods
stayed on top. The final quarter proved difficult for Youngbloods as changes and
substitutions lead to Brentwood crawling back to within 2 points. Youngbloods were
tested for the first time and questions were asked of the team, after a time-out
was called by a nervy Coach Stephen. The response was positive as start player **
Alex** hitting a 3 pointer followed by **Daniel** and **Latrell** scoring back to
back layups. The result was a (15-9) quarter win securing victory by 11 points.

### Under 14 Boys

### Youngbloods Aces 63 Vs 53 Greenwich Titans

Youngbloods hosted Greenwich Titans in their first Home game of the season to take
place at St Bonaventures School, with coach Stephen Onireti away with the Under
13 Boys, coach Aaron Senior was deputising looking to get their first win of the
season following their opening game 2 weeks prior. Youngbloods won the tip and first
quarter was underway, with both teams starting the game with a string of mistakes
leading to turnovers and missed opportunities. Midway through the first both teams
began to find their strides, and exchanged baskets heading into the first break
tied 12-12.

The Youngbloods concentration levels began to slide to start the second quarter
allowing the Titans to gain the lead in the game in which they began to take control,
however the Aces didn’t let go of the lead easily, ensuring that the score stayed
close heading into the half time break down by 3 points, 26-29.

Following the half time break, the Titans came out with high energy and ready to
take control of the game, they went on a 10-0 run and leading the game by 13 points
midway through the third quarter forcing Coach Senior to take a time out to rally
the troops together to get back into firm footing in the game. Lead by **Simon**
and **Hussain,** Youngbloods began to hustle not allowing any uncontested shots
and as a team they began to dominate the boards. The tempo of the game was increased
and with the Titans unable to find an answer, Youngbloods managed to pull it back
to a 5 point game heading into the remaining quarter.

The final quarter was upon us, and the tempo continued throughout the court quarter
not allowing the Titans breathing space and Youngblood’s slowly beginning to show
how they should and could have played from the beginning of the game. The defensive
intensity began to frustrate the Titans, and the increased confidence from Youngbloods
was beginning to show, completing a huge turn around and come from behind victory,
winning the final quarter 20-5 and thus winning the game by 10points 63-53.

“The Boys had a very slow start, they showed fighting spirit towards the end, and
really wanted to gain their first win of the season, and they had to work for it.
The last quarter showed more about what they can do on court, and I am sure it will
continue” said stand-in coach Aaron Senior.

U16s following Win against Worthing Thunder

The Under 16 boys steam rolled into a second win as many weeks as they were victorious
against Worthing Thunder in the Basketball England U16 Boys Premier Division. U16
Boys started the first quarter quickly as **Aaron Martin** converted the first chance
of the game, with the team storming into an early 6-0 lead. Worthing staged a slow
comeback before the Youngbloods boys went on another scoring run to secure the first
quarter 17-12.

The second quarter began just as the first, with **Rayon Brown** controlling the
point, finding mismatches on the offensive end and exploiting them. The run continued
with Worthing forced to take a time-out to find a way back into the game. However,
Youngbloods didn’t tire; rotations and defensive adjustments ensured that they kept
their lead winning the quarter with strong play and rebounds by **Oscar Turner**,
going into the half time break with a 17 point lead, 43-26.

Worthing struggled to find any rhythm in the 3^(rd) quarter, mainly due to aggressive
defence from Newham lead by example from **Jelani Watson-Gayle**, leading to easy
steals and transition baskets, with big three point shots from **Jelani Lewis**
and **Jonathan Ragasa** putting the game beyond any doubt midway through the third.
Youngbloods saw out both quarters with tough rebounds and Lay-ups from** Jackson
Spielmeyer-Payne** and **Nathan Moyo**, winning the game 85-54.

“_This was a good showing for us as a team, we are still coming together, and the
performances will begin to show the brand of basketball we want to play for the
rest of the season_” said **Coach Aaron Senior**, _“We are filled with confidence
heading in to a league and cup double header next weekend”_

Under 18 Mens with a Thunderous 3rd win

Youngbloods u18 continue their journey in the Premier Division with a win over Worthing
on their home court at St Angela’s.

With a quick start Youngbloods set their stall with a 8-0 run. Worthing came back
with two quick 3 pointers and balanced out the game after the come back the first
quarter continued with both teams trading basket for basket. **Coach Caroline Charles**
spoke to the boys and told them they were not playing up to their standard. The
boys heeded this reminder and came out firing on all cylinders. Inside plays, penetration
and outside shooting had the defence confused and flustered with Youngbloods scoring
at will gave Youngbloods a big lead. This tempo continued throughout the 3rd quarter
as well.

The 4th quarter saw Worthing find their shooting mark and Worthing staged their
comeback, but alas it was too little too late and Youngbloods collected their 3rd
win by 20 points.
