The Youngbloods Under 16 Boys team produced another upset against higher ranked
opposition knocking out South Premier Leaders Hemel Storm from the Sureshot National
Cup. Great pressure defence from the start and quickly converted baskets in transition
from Emmanuel Odunsi and Obi Agu helped Youngbloods surge to an early advantage
on an initial 10-0 Run, a lead which they would stretch to 20-8 to lead the first
quarter finishing with a 3 point shot from Rayon Brown. With Shaquille Williams
and Darran Henry deputising in the post, and causing problems for the Hemel defence
forcing them in them in to foul trouble and providing easy opportunities to the
basket converted by Vytautas Rimkus and Cibeka Kalimira, Youngbloods cemented tie
lead further by outscoring their opponents 17-9 taking the lead into the Half time
break 37-17.

Following the break, in the third quarter, Youngbloods surged to an early comfortable
advantage with good defence from Joshua Blake-Williams preventing the opponents
getting easy looks to the basket, Youngbloods stayed firm, taking a further one
point advantage winning the third 17-16. Youngbloods dominance continued throughout
the fourth, David Garcia and Tyren Stuart kept the offences under control and Youngbloods
Held on in the fourth to win the game 71-47 with Jelani Watson-Gayle recording a
double-double with 24 points and 10 assists; Joseph Adikwu, Obi Agu and Emmanuel
Odunsi securing a mega 14 rebounds each (combining for 42 Rebounds) scoring 12,
10 and 12 points respectively.

Youngbloods Under 16s Head Coach Aaron Senior “What a great weekend we have had,
after recording a 128-39 point victory in the league the previous day against Southend
Scorpions, to again beating the only undefeated team left in the premier division
above us by such a comfortable margin, great things are still to come from these
guys, and I have every belief we can keep improving week by week.”

Youngbloods Under 16s now progress to the quarter finals travelling away to Notts
Nova, Nottingham in January.
